From Aaron Rose to Me: My Journey as a Wedding Videographer

Over the past 20 years of capturing love stories, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless beginnings. Alongside those stories, my own creative journey has evolved too. What began under the name Aaron Rose Wedding Films has gradually grown into something more personal, and today I create work simply under my own name, Matt.

My style has changed and matured over time, shaped by the people I’ve met, the weddings I’ve filmed, and the stories I’ve been trusted to tell. You’ll still find some films here created under the Aaron Rose name, included as part of that journey. They reflect where I started and how my approach has developed, reminding me that growth is rarely sudden, but always ongoing.

Change is part of the process, and this feels like a natural step forward.

The Origins of the Aaron Rose name

When I first started my wedding videography business, the world was a very different place. Social media wasn’t the marketing juggernaut it is today, and the internet was only beginning to weave its way into everyday life. Back then, if you wanted to stand out in the wedding industry, you turned to physical advertising: phone books, the Yellow Pages, and local wedding directories.

The name “Aaron Rose” wasn’t some deep, sentimental alias or a pseudonym hiding a secret identity. It was a strategic choice, pure and simple. With the double “A” at the start, Aaron Rose was guaranteed a prime spot at the top of any alphabetical listing. For those flipping through hundreds of names in the Yellow Pages looking for a wedding videographer, visibility was everything. Being at the top of the list often meant being the first call a couple made.

Aaron Rose served its purpose wonderfully, helping me book weddings and build a reputation in an era when advertising real estate was a numbers game. Yet, even as my business grew, there was always a part of me that felt disconnected from the name. It represented a tactic, not the heart and soul of my work.

The Changing Landscape of Marketing

As the years passed, so did the marketing methods. The rise of the internet, and later social media, changed everything. Couples no longer flipped through bulky directories to find vendors. Instead, they turned to search engines, wedding blogs, and Instagram feeds. The importance of an alphabetical listing diminished, replaced by the need for authenticity, storytelling, and connection.

Suddenly, wedding videography wasn’t just about being visible, it was about being personal. Couples wanted to know the artist behind the lens, to connect with someone who shared their vision and values.

It became clear that Aaron Rose, as effective as it had been in its time, no longer aligned with the ethos of my work or the direction of the industry. I wasn’t just a business name; I was Matt the human, a videographer who had spent two decades working on his craft. It was time to step into the spotlight with my true identity. So it’s a big hi fom me, I’m Matt.

Embracing My Name

Transitioning from Aaron Rose wasn’t a decision I made lightly. There was a sense of comfort and familiarity in the old name, not to mention the recognition it had built over the years. But I knew that to continue growing, I needed to move on from a brand name and represent my work personaly. It allows me to connect on a more personal level and shows couples that the person they’re trusting with their wedding memories is more than just a brand, he’s a person.

Moving Forward

Today, I’m proud to trade under my own name. Aaron Rose will always be a part of my history, a reminder of where I started and how far I’ve come. But now, as I continue to capture life’s most beautiful moments, I do so as my authentic self, and that me, Matt.

To all the couples I’ve had the honor of working with over the past two decades, thank you for trusting me with your memories. And to those I’ve yet to meet, I can’t wait to tell your story.
